When I posted about this earlier I had only just thought it up. I was so excited that I had to go ahead a mention it on my blog. Since then, I’ve been working things out in my head. I have an idea of what I want to do.
First of all, I’m going to hold a giveaway toward the end of August. Up for grabs will be the new movie tie-in edition of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Look out for that!
Beginning in September, I’m going to put my tempting new releases aside and focus on Charlie and the books he reads. I’ve read The Perks of Being a Wallflower a million times, but this time I’m going to do a sort of read along fused with a reading challenge. As I read, I’m going to stop along the way to pick up the books that Charlie reads (unless I’ve already read them) and I’ll listen to the music Charlie listens to and I’ll watch the movies Charlie watches. I doubt I’ll be able to read all of the books he reads, but I’m sure as hell going to try. So most of my reviews and posts in September will relate to The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
I would love it if you joined in. This will be a no pressure event. If you’ve never read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, here’s your chance. Or maybe you just want to read one or two of the books Charlie reads in the book. Maybe you just want to post about the awesome music or movies. Even a simple post about what the book means to you or a review of the movie adaptation would be great. Absolutely anything relating this wonderful book and the movie adaptation that’s coming out is exactly what this event is about.
Here is a form for anyone who wants to be involved in this event in some way. It includes the list of books, music and movies mentioned in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. You’re not making any promises, it’s just so I know if there’s any interest. I would really appreciate it if you would also tweet this post or share it with friends to get the word out.
Now I’m crossing my fingers that people will want to be involved because I’m doing this either way, but it will be more fun if there are other bloggers involved.

You know, this is my favorite book of all-time. I’ve read it a dozen times (okay, 5 or 6 times) since I first found it about a decade ago. I absolutely love this idea (I actually made a CD of the music he lists – that mixed tape he made for Patrick) and he does indeed read some great books, though if I remember correctly, I think I’ve read most of them.
I recently re-read and (finally) reviewed this book. I had read it so many times, but could never bring myself to actually review it. It’s one of those books that brings new meaning every time I revisit it.
Good luck with this event! September is going to be so busy for me, otherwise I would definitely, definitely join… but I’ll try to help spread the word for you!
I have signed up! Can’t wait to get started.
[...] Second post today, but I’m so excited about my upcoming reading projects. Owl Tell You About It is hosting A Wallflower Event. [...]

Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of those books my daughter has been trying to get me to read. It’s on my list of books for my 2012 TBR Pile Challenge so this will be a fun one to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
Thanks for organizing this. Hope you get a good response.
